"SHADOWING HAS GIVEN ME THE TOOLS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I WANT OUT OF A CAREER IN MEDICINE"
YOU CAN MAKE A CHANGE
IN THE LIFE
OF ONE STUDENT TODAY
The Walla Walla Clinical Shadowing program is for pre-medical student shadowing. The program collaboration includes the institutions of higher education (Whitman College, Walla Walla University, Walla Walla Community College) and local hospitals, offices and clinics. We are excited to introduce a web-based resource to streamline the process of physician shadowing.

A TOOLKIT TO CLINICAL SHADOWING
A crucial aspect of the Clinical Shadowing Program is its ability to be adopted efficiently and effectively by other county medical societies, undergraduate colleges and universities, and hospitals/clinics. We have developed an essential “toolkit” for developing a shadowing program in your local county. While the needs of Walla Walla may differ from those of a bustling metropolitan city, there is enough common ground to transfer shadowing tools from one county to another until easy access to physician shadowing is commonplace. A growing trend in medical school admissions is the emphasis on physician shadowing. Our state medical school, the University of Washington, has recently stated that a strong applicant should have 40 hours of physician shadowing prior to applying. The Walla Walla Valley medical community has dedicated itself to aiding students in meeting that recommendation.
